After-School Updates
Smyser Accelerated School is extremely proud to announce that over 340 students were served in our After-School Programs this school year. Students in benchmark grades 3, 6, and 8 were able to benefit from smaller group instruction in our Academic Reading Program, better-preparing them for the mandatory ISAT battery of tests.

Smyser Class of 2010 Trip Information
ISAT testing is almost over and our students continue to work hard preparing for high school. On Tuesday, March 9th at 5:30 PM, our 8th grade parent committee is meeting to plan upcoming events and fundraisers to offset the cost of the 8th grade banquet. With your input, our 8th grade trip has been finalized. A local trip visiting and celebrating Chicago has been planned. The trip is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19th.

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I welcome you back for the 2009-10 school year. The start of each academic year, is a perfect opportunity to reaffirm high expectations and goals for making this a dynamic and wonderful year. As always, Smyser School strives to provide high quality educational services to all children through a variety of programs. As tests scores continue to rise earning us both CPS and ISBE honors, it is essential for students, parents, administrators, teachers, staff, and community members to continue working together to bring resources, opportunities, and innovative programming to our wonderful school. Through synergy, everything is possible. My focus for the year is simple “Accountability, Innovation, and Differentiation”. I thank you for your hard work. Let’s keep the momentum moving forward.
